The ‘City of the Tribes’ or the ‘Gateway to the West’, whatever you call it Galway is a unique and vibrant city and the ideal venue for the EEA conference 2010. Located on the west coast of Ireland it is a popular tourist destination at all times of the year. The city itself is small and compact and its many pedestrian streets make for easy, enjoyable exploration. It is a thriving university city with great shopping, restaurants and many pubs creating a lively atmosphere both by day and night. The city also has many relics of its medieval past and is worth taking time to explore. It has changed considerably over the last number of years and features a fascinating juxtaposition of new and ancient architecture.
